Follow the steps we went over to guide you through the conference: Be Welcoming, Explain Objective & Expectations, Action Plan, Use Good Bad Good Sandwich, Don’t Tolerate Abuse.
Lauren is a 3 year old charming girl that plays very well with her friends in the classroom. She has no specific behavior issues and does very well with following directions. Unfortunately, she has a problem with being understood. When asked, she will point at correct corresponding images and colors, and will say something, but it is not understandable to you. You have asked her parents if they have noticed anything about her speech. They are unaware of a problem and say that she is still young and will learn how to speak in her own time. After speaking with your supervisor, she does an observation and agrees with you and the child should be referred to a speech program. You have requested a parent teacher conference to discuss this.
Explain what you would say to the parents and what methods you will use to solve this behavior. Be as detailed as possible.
